What does Corporate Social Responsibility mean to SThree?
We believe that proper understanding and management of our social and environmental impacts are important to the continued success of our business. As we focus on long term success, our CSR strategy, called Giving Something Back, concentrates on tackling issues that will have a sustained effect on our local and international communities, our environment, our people – and ultimately, our business. The aims of our Giving Something Back programme are:
- to give those in the community that most need it opportunity and aspiration;
- to respect the environment we live in;
- to give back to the people who work so hard to make this a great company.
We strive to be the best company to work for and we cannot achieve this without being a socially and environmentally responsible business. Our international success will be increasingly reliant on the breadth and effectiveness of our CSR programme; we have put in place a structure of people, committees and policies to make this programme an integral part of how we run our business.
Our responsibilities to local and international communities
We want to give those that most need it opportunity and aspiration – this applies to the communities in which we work and beyond. We have a wealth of talent and energy at SThree that can be harnessed to benefit communities local to our offices and we will continue to partner with charities and community groups to facilitate this. Fulfilling our community commitments influences the way we do business and we hope they will contribute to our continued success.
Our responsibilities to the environment
With 1,700 employees spread across the globe, managing our environmental impact is a challenge and one that we are fully committed to. We have started to measure and reduce our carbon footprint throughout our UK operations and will implement individual carbon reduction plans for each UK office in 2010. By introducing technology to allow us to hold meetings and conference via video links and the web, we will continue to reduce the amount we travel and lessen our contribution to worldwide CO2 emissions.
